3 Gardening Tips From Our Landscapers
Some people find peace in a good book, swaying softly in a hammock or having their muscles needed during a well-deserved massage—whilst others ground themselves by reconnecting with nature. No matter your preferred relaxation method, there’s something undeniably rewarding about watching something grow, blossom and thrive.
We asked our landscape team to give us some tips on how to get a greener thumb this year. Here’s what they told us:
Compost!
Spring is the perfect time to give your garden a boost with some compost! Indeed, spring composting improves soil quality and nutrient supply. The best way to ensure success is to do it every year—make sure to add it to your calendar!
Trim!
Do you have a shrub in your yard that adds colour and a sweet fragrance to your yard? When all its petals are on the ground after it has flowered, prune your shrub! A good cut will help the foliage grow evenly and full.
Plant!
If you are thinking of planting, make sure you do it at the right time. The best times for planting, separating perennials and transplanting are in the spring (April and May) and fall (late September up to the first frost). That’s because, in cooler weather, plants slow their vegetative growth and require less water intake—so root establishment has a better chance—and so do your plants.
