Festival Essentials: What’s in My Bag for Bluesfest
After having picked the artists you want to see, made the playlists, coordinated with your friends and marked your calendar, there’s still one big question: what do I put in my bag to go to the festival?
The Rules at Bluesfest
Click here to consult Bluesfest’s list of “what to bring/what to leave at home” for the festival. While you pack your bag, remember that it may only be 12″ × 12″ × 6″ and that all bags will be searched before entry.
Tip: tie sweaters around your waist and bring a carabiner to hook your water bottle to the outside of your bag to free up some room!
Festival Bag Must-Haves
A little checklist for you to make sure you’ve got everything you need on your next festival endeavour:
- A pair of sunglasses
- Your favourite sunscreen
- An empty water bottle to fill later. Make sure it’s not glass!
- Comfortable shoes to make it to the end of the day
- A sweater for later
- Hand sanitizer is always a must
- A portable charger for a worry-free evening
- A pack of tissues can come in handy
- A couple Band-Aids just in case
- A pack of gum or mints to keep it fresh
- Some cash if your phone dies or the card reader does
- Ear plugs because auditory health is important
- Some snacks for when the lines are just too long
- Hair ties for when the wind picks up
The Wellness Edit
While festival grounds will never rival the spa in terms of relaxation, we still have a few tricks up our sleeve (or bag) to help enhance the wellness factor of your festival adventures:
- An essential oil roll-on to keep some classic festival scents at bay
- Tip: Lavender essential oil smells great, and it works as a bug repellent, helps with bug bites and has a great calming effect for when the crowds get a bit overwhelming
- A natural bug spray to keep those pesky mosquitoes away
- If you didn’t listen to the comfy shoe suggestion, pack a pair of flip-flops for the trek out of the festival
- A mini notebook to write down your thoughts or keep track of important festival info (in case your phone dies). If you need a second during the day, you can always use your notebook for journaling or doodling. Don’t forget a pen or pencil!
- Your favourite hand cream to keep your skin hydrated
- A headache balm just in case
- A face mist for a midday refresher
