A Family Discovery Day for 4 Generations

A Family Discovery Day for 4 Generations

  • August 2, 2024

It’s July 10, 2024, our first Family Discovery Day of the summer and the spa feels different. The music is the same. It still smells like eucalyptus, pine and lavender. The saunas are still hot and the cold plunges still freezing. It’s the spa-goers that are different. Filled with childlike wonder, children aged 8 and above get to come to the spa today, for many, for the first time. However, for one family, it’s far from their first visit.

“It’s not every day we get to host four generations for a wellness getaway” explains Gabrielle, Nordik’s Marketing Manager. She introduces us to the Chatelain family. First, we have Mrs. Chatelain, also known as Gilberte or Grandma. Then Lucie, Gilberte’s daughter, followed by Julie, Lucie’s daughter and Gilberte’s granddaughter. And the fourth generation, Arielle, Julie’s daughter, Lucies granddaughter and Gilberte’s great-granddaughter. “Did you get all that?” checks Gabrielle, ready to draw a family tree if necessary. “Let’s make sure the Chatelains have an unforgettable day at our spa. Here’s to creating memories that will last for generations to come!”

A Spa Discussion: The Chatelain Family

Gilberte, Lucie, Julie and Arielle call Orleans home. This morning, they all hopped in a car to make the 40-minute drive to the spa. Thankfully, they didn’t have to travel far to pick each other up. Mrs. Chatelain and her daughter have been neighbours for 30 years, a testament to their close bond as a family.

When did the love story between Nordik Spa-Nature and your family begin?

All it took was one visit for this love story to begin. Gilberte recounts tales of her first time at Nordik. It was the year the spa opened when she first stepped onto the grounds. She hasn’t looked back since. It took no time at all for her to start bringing her family and friends along for the wellness ride!

Tell us about a few of your favourite spa memories.

For the entire Chatelain family, the spa is synonymous with one word: relaxation. Julie remembers,My first visit with my husband is definitely my best spa memory.” For Lucie, it’s her first Aufguss ritual that left a mark, “The music just transported me,” she adds. Meanwhile, her daughter Arielle also is quickly becoming a fan of the Aufguss ritual, “It helps me relax so much.” As for Gilberte, she can’t pick a favourite memory, “When you come for a few weeks in a row, there are too many good memories to count.”

Why should people come to the spa as a family?

“Why not?” exclaims the whole family. Gilberte mentions her two other daughters and how often they come to the spa together “it’s such a nice day to share, all together.” They spend the morning together. They share a good hearty breakfast and then head to the spa where they sometimes split up to head to their favourite installations. They’ll meet back up later for a chat in the more social spaces of the spa.

What were your favourite parts of the day?

Mrs. Chatelain loves the people: “The employees of the spa make me feel so valued and their attention to detail is incredible.” Lucie loves the Maa sauna for its intimate setting and perfect heat level. Julie enjoys the exclusive Arboreal ritual because its so unique while her daughter Arielle prefers a more classic style of Aufguss sauna ritual. But really, the best part of the day was getting to share the experience as a family.

Later, when the stars were high in the sky and the spa was empty of guests, Gabrielle’s phone pinged with a message. It’s from Lucie: “I just wanted to take a minute to thank you for the perfect day with my mother, my daughter and my granddaughter. The kindness you showed us was heartwarming. We felt like royalty all day. We had so much fun! Earlier today you asked us what our favourite spa memory, and we want to change our answer if it’s not too late: it’s definitely the Family Discovery Day!
