How to Celebrate Valentine’s Day at Home
Even before staying in became the norm, plenty of people opted to stay home on Valentine’s Day to avoid the flurry of activity that surrounds February 14. Whether you’re celebrating with your Valentine or Galentine, a roommate, your family or ringing in the day solo—there’s no reason to skip on the love this year!
Have breakfast in bed
With dreary and cold February weather, there’s nothing better than staying in bed a tad longer. Valentine’s Day is the perfect time to step out of your warm cocoon and whip up something for your significant other or for yourself before bringing it back to bed. And if you’d rather skip the cooking, ordering in from a local restaurant is just another way of sharing the love.
Bundle up in nature
While heading out into nature is technically straying from the “at-home” celebration, taking in some fresh air is great no matter the occasion—and it’s made even better when shared with loved ones. Add on the layers and find a nearby trail for a wintery walk, some snowshoeing, cross-country skiing or sledding. If you’re lucky enough to have a fire pit in your backyard, bundle up with blankets and chai lattes and make a date out of it!
If you live a bit too far from nature, why not get away from it all this February or March?

Indulge in an at-home spa day
Self-care is just as important on Valentine’s Day as it is on any other day. Show yourself some love with a relaxing at-home spa day—and maybe incorporate a few new habits into your routine. If you’re sharing your day with friends, family or your Valentine—make it a group affair! There’s nothing quite as sweet as applying a face mask or scrub for the ones you love.
Give a little something special

Share the love
Take some time to reconnect. We’ve all grown accustomed to online get-togethers and what better time to celebrate the love we share with friends and family than on Valentine’s Day? Have a remote game night, watch movies and produce live commentary, take a virtual mixology class or teach one another new recipes—the opportunities are endless!
Set the mood
Ambiance is important when it comes to romance. Light a few candles, get some cozy blankets out, turn the lights down low and put together the perfect playlist. For extra coziness and as a way to step out of the ordinary, consider setting up for dinner in the living room with plenty of cushions—an indoors picnic sounds quite romantic.
Have a movie marathon
If you aren’t one to cause much fanfare over Valentine’s Day—a movie marathon is the perfect way to kickback. It doesn’t matter whether the lineup includes the best romantic comedies or not, as long as there are lots of snacks involved.
Cook up a storm
For many, a candlelit dinner is a Valentine’s Day tradition. When celebrating at home, why not cook together and make the entire process an experience to be shared. If cooking isn’t amongst the greatest skills of your household, may we suggest a cheese and charcuterie board?
No matter how you choose to celebrate February 14 this year, make sure to add to the agenda some time to give yourself some love. Because we all deserve a moment’s respite.
