How to start fresh this fall
Back to school season always gives me New Years vibes. Even though it’s not technically the start of a new calendar year, the muscle memory from starting a new school year remains with me long after graduation. Something about the crisp fall air makes me feel like I have the opportunity to start fresh, re-evaluate my habits, get organized, and be more productive.
Whether you’re officially back to school yourself, have kids in school, or like me, just want to take advantage of that “back to school” feeling, here are three ways you can get a fresh start this fall.
1 – Clean your space
A clean space leads to a clear mind, which is an excellent start towards increasing your productivity and making you feel more organized. Removing clutter and visual distractions can help you focus on the task at hand and has the added bonus of making you feel like you’ve already accomplished something. If you want to level up your cleaning game, open the windows and let some fresh air into your space before locking up for the winter. The combination of fresh air and the feeling of achievement is sure to get you on the right track.
2 – Get your rest
If you want to feel recharged and energized, getting enough sleep is key. Plus, sleep comes with a whole host of benefits, like boosting your creativity, decision-making power, problem-solving skills, and ability to learn new things. Decide how many hours of shut-eye you want to get each night, and then set a bedtime and waketime for yourself. And stick to it! The more consistently you fall asleep and wake up at the same time, the more natural it will become (and the more refreshed you’ll feel).
3 – Revamp your routine
Heading back to school (or back to work after summer vacation) necessarily forces you back into a routine. Instead of dreading the monotony of your regular schedule, why not design a new routine that brings joy to your day-to-day? Even small changes like mindfully enjoying your morning coffee instead of gulping it down on your commute or turning off all your devices and reading before bed, can help to make your routine feel more pleasurable and lead to feeling rejuvenated. Don’t forget to consider your routine in a big picture way as well! While you might not have time to squeeze in everything on a daily basis, you can certainly find time on a weekly or monthly basis.
And when all else fails, don’t forget we’re here to help. Incorporating a spa visit into your routine is sure to make you feel refreshed and ready to seize the day!
